Yes, it recognized by CBSE, ICSE and State Education boards in India as a viable qualification for entry to class XI or for other higher secondary education courses.

A variety of assessment techniques are used, appropriate to the various subjects, such as oral & listening tests, practical and course work which look at overall performance over this two-year period and contribute 30-50% of the final grade in all subjects, in addition to written examinations.

Yes, as all IGCSE authorized schools across the world follow a common curriculum, IGCSE students, like IB students, enjoy enormous mobility & transferability. However, admission to another school will be subject to the admission policy of that school and the availability of places and subjects on offer.

Our IGCSE students can follow the AS / A level / IB Diploma Programme in classes XI and XII or can also shift to Indian Boards for Standards XI & XII .

The IGCSE board examinations are held three times in a year November, March and May. The results are announced online in the 2nd week of May, August or in November for which the certificates are issued in February.

Although these timelines do not synchronize with the admission schedules of the Indian +2 boards (ISC/CBSE/HSC), IGCSE students may seek provisional admission to them on the basis of the predicted grades.

Not withstanding the above position, the time-lag between the announcement of IGCSE results and the class XI admission timelines in India acts, to some extent, as a limiting factor with respect to options within the Indian curriculum.

It is also pertinent to note that students who pursue programmes like the IB Diploma, GCE ‘A’ level and so on, after their IGCSE class X, will also have the option to study with universities in India.

Modern Syllabuses
IGCSE is a curriculum and examination system which continues to develop and evolve. Syllabuses are regularly reviewed and revised to ensure that they reflect current subject developments and the requirements of schools around the world. When syllabus reviews occur, Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) actively seeks the views of teachers to ensure that proposed changes are acceptable and appropriate. This is to make sure that the curriculum remains relevant and focused on schools’ requirements.

The IGCSE curriculum provides a solution to assessment needs at age 14 to 16. It is suitable for virtually the whole ability range. IGCSE is generally taught as a two-year course leading to examination in the year of the student’s sixteenth birthday.

To take account of students’ differing ability levels, in most subjects there is a choice between core and extended curriculum options. This allows teachers to decide the most suitable level of the course and the examination for the students.

The core curriculum is suitable for a large majority of students, particularly those expected to achieve grades D to G.
The extended curriculum is for the more academically able students – those expected to achieve grade A* to C – and provides a route to higher level study in the subject.

The flexibility of the IGCSE curriculum is demonstrated by the fact that students may follow different levels of the curriculum in different subjects.

IGCSE has widespread international credibility as an educational qualification. The recognition is based on:

IGCSE English as a Second Language at grade C or above is recognised by almost all British universities – and many in the USA, Canada and Australia – as evidence of adequate competence in the English language for university entrance purposes. So you need not to appear in exams like TOFEL or ILETS, which are otherwise compulsory.
IGCSE courses are accepted for progression directly on to US college degree courses.
